Professional Yachtmaster Fastrack program
Jolly Parrot Sailing's Professional Yachtmaster Fastrack program is designed as a cost effective solution to suit your learning requirements without compromising on the quality and coverage of these much sought after RYA qualifications. We offer a number of different paths for you to reach your ultimate goal and our program is specifically designed by sailing experts for individuals who want to gain internationally recognised qualifications whether it’s for a career or lifestyle change, as part of a gap year experience or sabbatical.
What‘s covered on this course?
We have tailored our Professional Yachtmaster Fastrack program to give you the best possible experience and training utilising the extensive knowledge and experience of our instructors. Where possible, we also incorporate race training and compete in actual races as part of your training which adds valuable experience and teaches skills you would not learn elsewhere.
Our program is broken down into a modular system with three key milestones: Day Skipper, Yachtmaster Coastal and Yachtmaster Offshore. The unique advantage of this is that you can enter and leave the program at any of these milestones depending on your starting knowledge and end goal. The entire program is designed to really mould you to become a professional RYA Yachtmaster with the credibility to go forward into a rewarding career. Unlike many other Fastrack schemes, we do not just teach you to pass the examinations, we really teach you to sail and command your vessel in a professional way.
You will also learn the importance of victualling a yacht! Our Fastrackers are allocated a weekly budget for provisioning, which if used wisely, means you'll only need minimal extra subsistence funds. This teaches invaluable life skills as well as the practical aspects of how to victual a yacht for both day-to-day sailing and also longer voyages.

Unlike most other providers who only have one type of boat, we have a variety of yachts on our fleet that you will complete your training on. Our current fleet consists of two Bavaria 36ft, and a Bavaria 37ft with different types of sail plan, and you'll get extensive spinnaker and storm sail training. Our yachts have a variety of navigation systems and radar to give you the biggest breadth of experience.
You won't be stuck with the same instructor week in week out either. We have a variety of experienced Cruising Instructors and Yachtmaster Instructors, some of whom have worked with flotilla companies in the Med and Caribbean. Many of our Instructors are home grown and have been through our Fastrack Program themselves, so know the program inside out. What more of an endorsement could you ask for! They've learnt with Jolly Parrot and want to return to work as an instructor for Jolly Parrot!
We feel it's really important for you to take both the Yachtmaster Coastal exam and Yachtmaster Offshore exam. Employers like to see that you are dedicated and have taken both exams. Taking the Yachtmaster Coastal exam gives you great knowledge of the exam experience ahead of the Yachtmaster Offshore exam. The exam is nerve wracking enough without the make or break pressure at the end of 16 weeks!
You'll have the opportunity to sail in Northern European / Atlantic waters giving you plenty of practice in heavily tidal areas which means you'll feel confident to skipper your yacht wherever your Yachtmaster qualification takes you, whether that's working as a flotilla skipper in the Med, or on a superyacht. And yes, we can even help with putting you in touch with with industry professionals if you want to work in the industry. All this in a nurturing, friendly, non smoking, fun environment.

Absolutely incredible! Recently, I completed Jolly Parrot’s ‘Novice to Day Skipper’ course, and it was one of the best experiences of my life! Not only did I learn to sail, but the course also improved my confidence massively. The instructors were all so lovely and incredibly knowledgeable. Greg was my instructor for the Day Skipper portion and I couldn’t imagine anyone better suited for the job - An excellent instructor with impeccable humour. We spent a wonderful 11 days in November 2021 with Jolly Parrot. I completed the Coastal Skipper Combined course and my wife the Comp Crew. Instructors Flipper, IanG, Hailey, and Tom were all exceptional in their own unique way and we came away with more rounded skills and knowledge as a result of their patient teaching methods. Clive and Rachel did a fabulous job of shuffling schedules and boats to accommodate our different experience levels. Expect to be challenged on the Coastal Skipper course! We made some abiding memories, some long-term connections and friends, and hope to return soon for the next challenge maybe a mile-builder.
